Trading sleep
for fevered dreams
anxious thoughts
hard put to rest
I’m burdened by
the bed I call my own
Like each day I let waste
I’ll be before I’m gone
so cruel and beautiful is forever
Absolute impermanence
is finding ways to say
“I could love you for days on end and no more”
(and no more)
no more will the sheets I’ve tied come undone
They’ll find my bones laid out like stones, my name left on none of them. Like me, it’s gone.
I’m gone

Spilling diction in frayed meaning
a useless husk yet come to being
highs strung low and bled out,
carapace still-life in daylit dreams
where we never die
Skin that you’ve worn so well as weight;
live and never die
Take this as my worth
a voiceless worm
(my own worth, not above but below, I’ll dig, and sear my skin as black as driftwood can burn)
In such cruel cycles
we emerge from blackest soil
chasing dreams of earth

Blood so thick it tastes of chalk
a lurking guilt fed on salt
Marrow, skin, minds and maw
tearing under endless strain
Ceaseless in their charge,
seasons take my form
I always learn too late
that nothing lost is without cause
Storm come home and swallow days
Burn my lungs, it’s all my fault
